Partner Organization: City of New Westminster, New Westminster Museum and Archives, New Westminster, BC 

Working with the New Westminster Museum and Archives team, Eden was provided with a variety of collections, archival, school and public programming, and community engagement opportunities. Eden especially enjoyed meeting and speaking with other sector professionals.

While I was in collections [my practicum supervisor] took me to a variety of events where people from all over the museum sector would attend and provide an opportunity to make connections. Two of these events were the Lower Mainland Curators Group Meeting that took place at the Chinese Canadian Museum as well as the Indigenous, Black, People of Colour (IBPoC) Networking meeting that took place at the New Westminster Museum Gallery. Both of these events were awesome networking opportunities where I was able to talk to people from all over the sector to learn about their experiences as well as get advice on how I could proceed towards my goals of working within the sector. I plan on continuing to volunteer at the New Westminster Museum and Archives until I’m able to find stable work in the museum sector.
