Partner Organization: City of Burnaby, Burnaby Village Museum, Burnaby, BC 

Simi’s practicum placement goal was to expand her experience handling, curating, and caring for belongings. She supported the Burnaby Village Museum’s curatorial team by working through an inventory of the items held at an offsite storage facility. Further, Simi assisted in completing an inventory of wax cylinders held by the museum. She developed collections-specific research, description, photography, and data management skills. 

My past research skills helped a lot while I was [working] at the museum. Over time I found it easier to identify an item because I was becoming more familiar with the items and found it easier to research them.
